Homes Long Ago…

 …Victorian Wash Day

It’s Monday morning; Mrs Peg is about to start the weekly wash and she needs your help!  There are clothes to sort, collars to scrub and whites to ‘blue’, not to mention the parlour needs cleaning.  Will she get everything done in time?

During this hands-on workshop your students will travel back in time to experience the real atmosphere of the washday. Using an original wash tub and dolly peg, scrubbing board and a large portion of elbow grease the children will be set to work, Victorian style!

Victorian Wash Day is an interactive performance designed to support learning across the curriculum. It offers a lively, practical and fun way for students to learn about Personal and Social Health and to promote Literacy, Numeracy and Citizenship as well as learning historical detail.
